If you have a teenage boy that is learning how to drive, giving him a car-themed room can be the best thing you can do for him. Boys, most especially, love cars and would want to own one. Your child will surely appreciate the driving lessons and the car-themed room.
Since your son is a teenager, you might not want to choose designs that are too childish. Determine the kinds of cars and designs he likes. Some teenagers like famous racing cars. You can use the design and colour scheme of his favourite racing association or his favourite race car. Use the colours of the racing association's logo as the colour scheme of the room. And if you want to be more general, you can paint the lower half of the bedroom walls with white and the upper half dark blue. The lower part will resemble the chequered flag used in car racing. Paint black squares on the lower part in such a way that it will look like a black and white chequered flag.
And if your son does not prefer racing, you can go for more general themes. You can use an upright mechanic's tool chest where he can keep his own tools and anything he wants to. To prevent tripping on the chest, you can paste it to the wall. Another good idea is to place a mechanic's rolling dolly in the bedroom. A rolling dolly is that tool mechanics lay their backs on when looking at the underside of vehicles. Your son will have so much fun scooting in the room with this type of dolly.
